i remember stopping by Rolla, MO at their july 4th county fair. it was probably the single best part of my entire road trip last summer. being a born and raised urbanite who's culturally brought up to look down on county/state fairs, it was such an interesting spectacle. for some people it's what they look forward to all year and while we overstimulated city folk think that's sad, it's cool to have that community tradition year after year.
